Andrea Dora Jimenez August 30, 1940 – June 23, 2018
On June 23, 2018, after battling with cancer, Andrea Dora Jimenez was called home. Our beloved Mom, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt and Friend was welcomed into Heaven by her parents Odilon and Amalia Liscano-Jimenez; brothers Manuel, Salomon, and Ramiro; sisters Andrea, Rafaela, and Amalia Garza. Andrea Dora Jimenez was born August 30, 1940, in Bishop Texas. She was the youngest of seven siblings. The family settled in Corpus Christi, Texas where she attended Crockett Elementary, Cunningham Jr. High, and graduated from W.B. Ray High school in 1959. After High School she attended Texas Woman’s University, where in just three short years she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. In 1971, she received her Master’s Degree in Education, with a specialization in English as a second language from the University of Southern California. She later earned a second Master’s Degree in Psychology from Texas A & I University. She earned many academic honors throughout her early schooling and University studies. In the early part of her career, she taught school in Corpus Christi, Texas, Lansing, Michigan, San Diego, California, Los Angeles, California, Robstown, Texas, and Shafter, California. For the last 25 years of her career she was a high school Counselor at East Bakersfield High school in Bakersfield, California. In 2015, she moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico to be near her granddaughters Nicole, Heather, and Grace Reyna. Andrea is survived by her beloved sons Jose R. Reyna, Jr. and his family, David Reyna and his family, brother Napoleon Jimenez, partner Alejandro de la Garza, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with a Memorial Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at Holy Family Church on Saturday, July 28, 2018. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
