Amando Flores Sanchez, 82, of Sinton, Texas, passed away on July 29, 2017 after a short illness.
“Mando” was born on April 3, 1935, to Francisco and Clara Sanchez in Benavides, Texas, and was a loving husband to Guadalupe J. Sanchez for 58 years. Amando met his late wife, Guadalupe, at a dance in Corpus Christi, Texas, and promptly declared his intention to marry her after falling in love with her. After their wedding in 1954, they moved to Sinton, Texas, where they raised their family. They remained married for 58 years until her death in 2012. Amando was a proud retiree of the Texas Department of Transportation and oversaw the paving of major South Texas highways and roads. He loved getting up early, working on construction projects, animals, Western movies, nature, and spirited political discussions. Amando will always be remembered for his incredible work ethic and strong sense of responsibility. He will be greatly missed by his family, forever loved and appreciated. He is preceded in death by his father, Francisco, his mother, Clara, his wife, Guadalupe, his sisters, Celia Reyna, Elvira Galvan, Emma Hernandez, and Elda Sanchez, his brother, Jose Sanchez, and his grandson, Joseph Eric Reyna, Sr.
He is survived by his brothers, Amado (Celedina) Sanchez of Austin, Texas, and Reymundo (Alicia) Sanchez of Odem, Texas, and a sister Guadalupe Serrata of Corpus Christi, Texas. He is also survived by his five children, Sandra L. Sanchez, Armando J. (Julie) Sanchez Jr., Leticia Gonzales, Palmira Tijerina, of Sinton, Texas, and Antonio (Sandra) Sanchez, Sr., of Papalote, Texas. He had 10 grandchildren, Amanda Gail Sanchez, Samantha Jo Gonzales, Joseph Eric Reyna, Anne Marie Sanchez, Veronica Anne Agee, Danielle Lynette Reyna, Antonio Sanchez, Jr., Debbie Lee Sanchez, Jessica Lynn Sanchez and Darren William Sanchez, and 13 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
The family extends its gratitude to Antonio Martinez, Jr., in providing caregiving and assistance with projects to our father during the past two years.
