Janis Marie Brooks

Janis M. Brooks, age 62, passed away July 8, 2021. She was born on May 25, 1959 to James McGhee and Sidney Armstrong in Oxford, Mississippi and was raised in Davenport, Iowa where she graduated at Central High School in 1977. She was employed by CCAD. Janis was a loving mother, sister, aunt and cousin. Janis enjoyed crocheting, thrift shopping and hanging with her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her love of laughter, dancing and being a jokester.
Janis is preceded in death by her daughter, Ashanti Brooks; her dad, James McGhee; stepdad, Sam Armstrong; brother, Mark Armstrong and 5 siblings.
Left to cherish her memories are her son, Armani Brooks; grandson, Ethan Valdez; her mother, Sidney Armstrong; siblings, Michael Brooks (Rachel), Shirley Bolden (Freddy), Sammy Armstrong (Mary), Ronnie Armstrong, Brenda Atwater (Ellis); sisters, Karen McGhee, Candy McGhee; brother, Ricky and a host of brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Seaside Reid Chapel with a Prayer Service to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Seaside Reid Chapel with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers are Ronnie Armstrong Sr., Ronne Armstrong Jr., Ellis Atwater, Fredrick Bolden, Camren Armstrong and Sidney Armstrong.
One day in the future we will not have to lose our loved ones anymore and we will welcome back the ones we have lost.
