Pete Hernandez, age 82, passed away on October 6, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas/
Pete was born on January 21, 193 to Santos Hernandez and Marta Muzquiz. Pete was employed by a manufacturing Company in Montebello, California. He was a shipping supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed in Alaska with Armored Division. Pete enjoyed fishing, visiting with friends, liked to visit Nevada Landing Casino in California, liked dancing and was very patriotic and always flew the American flag in front of his home. He attended Corpus Christi Day Care, where he had helped many friends. Pete is preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Marta; his wife, Chia; his sister Paula G. Lopez; his brothers Fidel Hernandez, Robert T. Arredondo, Filiberto Salinas, Richard Salinas, Danny Arredondo and Raul Salinas.
He is survived by his brother, Henry Salinas (Mari); his sisters, Olivia Ruiz (Frank), Connie Salinas, Minnie Nolaseo, Yolanda Salinas and Irene McDonald (Dan).
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Prayer Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
The Family would like to give a special recognition and thanks to: Mr. Richard Day, Cameron and Edward Collins, Damein Smith, Desmond Torres, Sofie (Rudy’s wife) and his niece, Ida Stewart.
Pallbearers will be: Alex Gonzales, Kenzie Martinez, Joshua J. Flores, Albert E. Herrera, Jonathan M. Herrera and Jheryl Stewart. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Frank K. Ruiz, Rudy Herrera and Henry Salinas.
