Obituary
Mercedes “May,” “Mama” Ledesma Sanchez, age 65 passed away Friday, August 31st, 2018. She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 8, 1952 to the late Samuel U. Ledesma and Margarita Z. Ledesma.
She graduated Class of ’71 from West Oso High School and went on to dedicate her entire life to being the best Sister, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt and Friend to all of us. She was a caring, warm hearted and compassionate soul who forever welcomed with opened arms and ears.
As we say our goodbyes let us reflect on the special bonds and memories that she left behind with each and every one of us. From the special memories she created crafting with her grandchildren on her kitchen table to fishing and beach trips with the kids, crowded Sunday Dinner’s at her home and backyard Bar-B-Que cookouts with the entire family. Dancing with family and friends, nieces and nephews, wherever there was music her feet were moving to the beat. She will forever dance in our hearts and her memory will forever live on.
Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel U. Ledesma and Margarita Z. Ledesma, her sister Teodora Ledesma, Rosario L. Armendarez and Martina L. Diaz.
She is survived by her children Fernando “Fred” (Kylie) Sanchez, Edilberto “Pelon” Sanchez, Veronica "Vero" (Eliasar) Diaz and Christina “Christy” (Mario) Sanchez.
Her siblings Rebecca (Ray) Amerson Lucy Marquez, Charlene Flores, Sylvester (April) Ledesma, Mario Ledesma and Samuel Ledesma.
Her grandchildren Fernando “Freddie” A. (Rachelle) Sanchez, Adrian Sanchez, Eliasar “Turos” Diaz Jr. Grisema “Sema” N. Diaz, Benjamin “Ben” N. Sanchez, Brandon L. Sanchez, Mario Salinas, Jr. Joel Gutierrez, Alfredo “Fredo” Gutierrez, Nayeli A. Diaz, Lily A. Sanchez.
Her great grandchildren Ella Rose Aguilar and Samuel Robert Sanchez.
She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7th, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m., and interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
