Juan Pena Jr.

January 7, 1951 ~ May 11, 2017 (age 66) 66 Years Old
Juan “Cuco” Pena Jr., 66, of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2017.
He was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Juan Sr. and Josepha Pena. He was a graduate of West Oso High School and early resident of “Motown”. On August 26, 1967 he married the love of his life, Herlinda (Linda). He said, “it was love at first sight”.
He enlisted to serve in the U.S. Army on December 7, 1968. While serving his country proudly in the Vietnam War, he served 3 tours, was lost in action, received 4 bronze service stars, and an air medal for heroism. In his Army career, he started as a private first class, was in the 101st Airborne Division, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, and ended as a Sergeant First Class. He continued his military service career for 21 years and retired to civilian life.
Juan was the family patriarch, husband, father, brother, father-in-law, nephew, grandfather, great grandfather, a soldier, and a friend to many. He inspired his family and friends to be the best they could be. He lit up a room, was the pillar of strength and courage, and enjoyed life. His Sunday afternoons were filled with football and spirit. There was no other bigger Dallas Cowboy Fan. He was front and center and ready to support his team from the early winning years of Roger Staubach, the not so good years of Tony Romo, and looking forward to watching Dak Attack.
He is survived by his three children, John Anthony (Melissa), Rebecca (Jaime Puente), Jay Michael, 7 grandchildren, Joshua, Rob, Mia, Juanito, Belle, Joziah, Breanna, great grandson, Luke, and his weiner dog Max. He is also survived by 4 brothers, Rick (Bibianna), Rudy (Norma), Ruben (Trish), and Roy and two sisters Laura Lara and Basilia (Doug Burks).
He will be greatly missed, yet we all understand it was time for the good lord to call him to heaven. He will remain in our hearts and we will all look to all the wonderful memories we have to remember him by.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, May 15, 2017 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church.
Interment will be at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
