Helen P. Wilmot

March 2, 1929 ~ December 28, 2017 (age 88) 88 Years Old
Helen Prado Wilmot, age 88, passed away after a long illness on December 28, at her home in Corpus Christi, Texas, in the loving presence of her family.   She was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 2, 1929, the youngest girl of nine children of Manuela and Manuel Prado.  Known for her beauty, wit, charm, generous heart and gregarious nature, she always looked for the good in everyone and could never do enough for others.  Immensely proud of her children, she was a devoted, selfless mother, who lavished profound, unconditional love on them, always putting their needs and wants first.  She was a graduate of Roy Miller High School and attended Del Mar College for a short while. She worked for the Corpus Christi Independent School District as a Community Social Service Aid for twenty years.  She was an active member of St. Theresa parish for many years, serving as Eucharistic Minister and a hospital volunteer at Spohn Hospital.  She enjoyed bowling, playing poker with her comadres, exercising, and eating at Luby’s Cafeteria.  But mainly she enjoyed being surrounded by all of her children and grandchildren and giving and receiving endless hugs and kisses.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Wilmot, by her parents and by her siblings: Manuel (Meme) Prado, Martha Montoya, Gilbert Prado, I. L. (Chicho) Prado, Sara P. Herrera, and Mary P. Medina. She is survived by numerous family members: siblings Evangeline (Eva) Prado and Pedro (Pete) Prado; son Louis A. Wilmot, Jr. and wife Luz Prieto of San Antonio; daughter Laura Wilmot and husband Daniel Sheehy of Falls Church, Virginia; David Wilmot and wife Carolyn Wilmot of Austin; daughter Victoria Loera and husband George Loera, Jr. of Pflugerville; Robert Wilmot of Austin; James Wilmot of Corpus Christi; Albert Wilmot and wife Mary Montelongo of Corpus Christi; Bernard Wilmot and wife Patricia Wilmot of Pflugerville; and Paul Wilmot of Corpus Christi.  She has fifteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
