Obituary

“For I am ready to be offered. And the time of my departure is at hand.  I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” II Timothy 4:6-7

Ada Lee Rivera, was called from labor to reward on April 13, 2024, at the age of 90 years old after a long bought of illness. She was born on October 21, 1933 to the care of her proud parents, the late Willie and Luida Giles. Sr.  She attended Mobile County Training School in Mobile, Alabama, where she received a formative education.  Ada accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She attended Third Baptist Church in Mobile, Alabama under the pastorate of Rev. B.J. Parker.

In 1954, Ada met and married the love of her life, Frederick A. Rivera Sr. on June 4th after a short courtship. They remained married for over 50 years until Frederick passed away in January of 2007.

On March 14, 1966, Ada and her family relocated from Mobile, Alabama to Corpus Christi, Texas due to her husband’s job transferring him to Corpus Christi Army Depot. Upon re-locating to Texas, she united with True Fatih Baptist Church where she served faithfully over 50 years until her health failed. She was also briefly employed at a nursing facility in which she resigned to become a permanent homemaker.  Ada devoted her life willingly and sacrificially to taking care of her family in any capacity needed. She was a devoted wife and an extraordinary mother, sibling, grandmother, friend etc. but most above all, she was a faithful servant of God who truly exemplified Christ in her daily living. She was a talented pianist with a golden voice who touched the lives of so many with her benevolent spirit and infectious smile. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. For to know her is to love her.

Ada was preceded in death by: Willie & Luida Giles Sr. (Parents), Frederick A. Rivera Sr (Husband), Brenda Kay Rivera & Horacestein “Jackie” McConley (Daughters), Willie Giles Jr. (Brother), and Florence Giles (Sister), William Clark (Brother-in-law).
