Obituary

Abel Nieto Chavana Jr., age 81, passed away on April 9, 2024. Abel Nieto Chavana was born on November 1, 1942, to Abel and Elvira Chavana. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1961. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves. Abel was employed by McTurbine Inc. Abel enjoyed serving his Lord as Eucharistic Minister at Most Precious Blood.

He will always be remembered for his love of family. He helped care for his loving mother, Elvira and sister, Rose when they needed him. He will also be remembered for the things he would say to make you laugh. Abel was a loving father, son, brother, and cousin. He was a caring man who always gave great advice and encouraged to love one another and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Abel Nieto Chavana is preceded in death by his mother, Elvira Nieto Chavana and sister, Rosario (Rose) Chavana Solis.

Abel Chavana is survived by his wife, Aurora Garcia Chavana, daughter, Deana Marie Martinez, four grandchildren, Alexandria Nicole Martinez, and D’Anna Mari Muniz, Joshua Noel Martinez, and Hallie Rochelle Martinez, seven great grandchildren, Charles Landin Magana, Layla Madison Magana, one on the way, Kairo Nicolas Noel Galvan, twins Hannah Elizabeth and Anna Marie Martinez, Saijo Aurora Galvan, and Everett Light Galvan, sister, Rosalinda Saldana, numerous nieces and nephews, through multiple generations, whom he loved as if they were his very own children or grandchildren.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Jerry Salazar Sr., Jerry Salazar Jr., (BIL) Ernesto Garcia, Jacob Escobedo, Matthew Galvan, and Landin Magana.

Honorary pallbearers are Kairo (Cowboy as he called him) Galvan – great grandchild and Joshua Noel Martinez – only grandson.

Special Thank you to Sandy DeLeon, Jerry and Joyce Salazar, Nora Escobedo, Joseph and Deborah Powell, all the Garcia family and relatives, Chavana family and relatives, Woolridge Place, staff at Spohn – South Spohn Shoreline, Bay Area Hospital ER staff, Del Cielo (Hospice), Well Med social staff and so many more to list. God bless everyone who came into our lives and took care of our loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and friend.

Visitation will be held form 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, April 15, 2024, at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
